NDS (CEO Kim Joong-won) announced that it would launch a microbiome testing service through LifeWallet, its medical MyData platform. LifeWallet is NDS’s medical MyData-based health-care platform that allows users to check and use medical information such as the results of checkups, genetic analyses, and prescriptions. With the microbiome testing service, users send the results of a test done with the analysis kit at home to an analyzer (U2Bio), which then analyzes the intestinal microbes using its analysis solutions and next-generation sequencing (NGS) equipment. Eventually, users can check the analysis results on LifeWallet. This platform shows the test results that indicate gut microbiota and its balance with a combined score, recommends customized probiotics based on the types of probiotics detected in each individual, and provides guidelines for managing health and disease-related health indicators. An NDS official said, “Many consumers do not experience efficacy even after taking probiotic products or are presented with too many choices. If you take probiotics according to the analysis of beneficial and harmful bacteria present in your gut while checking your health indicators, you can surely manage your health more effectively.” LifeWallet can also measure the number of steps you take every day, showing you the Healthy Life Years indicator one year later. It allows you to set the number of steps as your daily target, providing a personalized lifestyle coaching service for your well-being. In addition, LifeWallet recommends necessary products after analyzing personal health-care data. Using this platform, you can buy various customized products ranging from a menu of meals for those dieting or herbal tea capsules for diabetic people, as well as health functional foods. This lineup of recommended products will be expanded. “LifeWallet is an app that can analyze and manage personal health-care data. NDS (CEO Kim Joong-won) announced that it had launched an application called “LifeWallet,” which allows users to benefit from diverse personalized health-care services based on the medical MyData. LifeWallet was developed as part of the “direct-to-consumer (DTC) testing–based personal health coordinator service” task selected in the “2020 MyData Demonstration Service Support Project” publicly issued in June by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Data Agency. It allows users to receive different personalized services and medical data, such as prescriptions, checkup results, diagnostic tests, microbiome tests, genetic tests, and lifelogs, from agencies in possession. For example, this app provides the users with prescription data through cooperation with Samsung Medical Center and Chungnam National University Hospital, as well as with checkup data used by health examination centers. In addition, it can also link the analysis results of DTC testing services such as Theragen Bio’s genetic analysis and U2Bio’s microbiome tests. Moreover, the users can benefit from Mediage’s biological age analysis solution when entering their checkup data, along with Kyobo Life Insurance’s customized smart insurance coverage analysis. In particular, LifeWallet is serviced in the cloud-based authentication system to strengthen the security of personal medical data through blockchain technology. CEO Kim Joong-won said, “The year of 2021 is the first year of LifeWallet’s personalized medical MyData service. NDA is currently devoted to expanding its capacity for cloud-managed services into the public and educational sectors in line with trends in the cloud services market. CEO Kim Joong-won remarked that NDA had held a briefing session after winning a contract to conduct a structure design and road map development consulting project for the cloud-based infrastructure improvement of Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo). Dong-A University embarked on this project to preemptively respond to institutional changes encouraging the introduction of cloud services to the public sector and flexibly deal with traffic variations and online video classes caused by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a 2020 AWS Partner Network (APN) Partner, NDS, equipped with various cloud computing capabilities and expertise, will analyze the conversion of the university’s current educational administration systems into cloud-based ones for each work system. Then, it will design cloud-based architecture while establishing a road map for the introduction of cloud services. The CEO said, “I think cloud-based services will be positioned as essential IT infrastructure for a university’s educational environment.” He also added, “Through this project, we will help Dong-A University create educational environments for achieving cloud-based digital transformation and cultivating talented people.”
